Band
Like the show itself, the band behind The Gold Top has evolved through movement, improvisation, and experimentation. Players have changed, sounds have shifted—but the pulse has never stopped.
The music—composed by Emmy-nominated artist Joshua Funk and mixed by legendary producer Steve Albini (Nirvana, The Pixies)—is not just accompaniment. It’s part of the storytelling. Played live every night, it shapes the emotional architecture of the world unfolding onstage.
Special thanks to Jeff Greenberg and Tina Morris of the Village Recorder, and to our friends Jenica Bergere and Elizabeth Gamza, who helped get this up and running at The Village.
These are the musicians bringing The Gold Top to life—and the ones who help make each night its own experience.

Composed of seasoned musicians from Los Angeles’s live music and recording scenes, this band is the heartbeat of the show. Their sound doesn’t just underscore the story—it is the story. Every beat, every chord, every silence is part of the emotional architecture of the world unfolding onstage.
Original music by Emmy-nominated composer Joshua Funk blends R&B, soul, and Southern gothic grit. Backed by live drums, vocals, organ, and bass, the sound is fully alive—improvised in places, tight as a fuse in others. And because it’s performed live every night, no two shows sound exactly the same.
The music isn’t a layer. It’s the landscape.
